As you can see by some of the pictures I posted below! There was dust and there was mud! I vote the mud the best though! They had a really good turnout of participants and spectators. The trails were quite. Not many people out riding around. Sure the gas prices have alot to do with it. Ambrose Lake had about 10 campers. Beaver Trail Campground was packed out. It is really nice to see our local economy reaping from the benefits people staying in Michigan for a vacation this year. Sadly our summer riding time is becoming shorter. We are almost to the month of September and everyone will be back into the swing of school and getting back to the grind of working full time until Christmas break. We on the other hand are looking forward to the white stuff also. I was down all last winter due to a hip replacement but trust me, I WILL be out there with the best of them riding the snowny slopes and bumpy trails that winter brings to this wonderful state of Michigan. Would never trade the delights of the (4) seasons that we get in enjoy in Michigan. Sure as time passes by, I am like most people and would enjoy a month in the sun come March and April but winter is almost done and I would gladly trade mud and dirty snow for some much needed sunshine by then. So enjoy the last few weekends you have left of the northern woods. Don't forget to come visit us for the Fall colors. The BentWheels Orv club will be having their color tour the first weekend of October, so get ahold of them and join the fun.
See you on the trails!!!

Busy weekend to come!
There will be an ATV weekend in St Helen this weekend. It sounds like it will be a really good time for all and the weather looks good too! Hope you all can come and join in on the fun. We will be there somewhere!
The trails in Ogemaw have been a little quite with the price of gas going up and down and alot of other counties opening their roads to ORV users. We are really excited about it but sad at the same time. I can't visit with you all if you go to other counties but HEY, I want the whole state of Michigan to survive but I like to keep it in Ogemaw county too!
Well see you on the trails!!!

Wow, the 4th is almost here!!!
Well it is Tuesday and some of you are already up riding in the woods. After the light rain that we received most of the day yesterday, there might or might not be mud puddles. I don't have any laying around here so I am thinking it soaked into the ground as soon as it was hitting it. We were in desperate need of some rain.
Well the 4th is only a few days away! There will be fireworks in the town of Rose City and West Branch if any of you are interested. Check anywhere in the two towns and someone will be able to tell you were to sit for a good view of the fun. I know there is a parade in the city of Rose City. We will be scoping out the fireworks in Rose City like we do every year. I must say for a small town they are very nice fireworks. Fun is had by all!!
Stay safe, tread lightly and we will see you some where out there on the trails!
I have to send out a shout-out to Big E Bakery and Ice Cream shop! They have AWESOME soup and sandwiches and the price is a good deal. The ice cream of course is even better!!
Don't forget to let the merchants in town know that you appreciate having the ORV ordinance in town!!!

HOT is the word!
Well we have all been begging for summer and it has hit us with a Texas force! It has been in the 80's and 90's. Not much rain so the trails are VERY DUSTY!!!!
Well the CCC/Bentwheels Bike run last weekend was excellent. It seems like everyone had a wonderful time and no serious injuries were reported. No one got lost either so there was no need for our Search & Rescue teams. I had a blast standing at the corner of M-33 and Heath Rd. It was so much fun seeing all the riders on Sunday. I want to THANK ALL of the riders who thanked us for being there. It was a very nice gesture. I have pictures to follow!
I have to tell you about a story that one of our ORV Patrol Officers was told the other day. We have alot of people who ride horses on the trails that are also now occupied by ORV/ATV riders. He was a little worried when the new ordinance took affect because of the noise vs his horses. He told our patroler that he was amazed at the generous effort ALL riders that he has come across took to not spook his horses. He says that EVERY rider that he has come across and he stated it was 100 or more has ALWAYS turned off their BIKE/ATV/ORV until he was well away from them so not to spook his horses. He was so amazed and excited that you all do that for horse riders. I also want to tell you all how PROUD I am of all of you that has shown compassion and generosity to outdoor enthusiast no matter what they may be riding. It's wonderful to know that you all act like one big family and it takes a BIG person to do that now days. So thanks a bunch from all of us and keep up the good work.
Just a note to all people who wish to ride up into Oscoda County while riding the trails in Ogemaw County. We ask that you please get a map for that area. There are ALOT of places you can't ride no matter what people are telling you. The DNR and State Forest Officers have NO TOLERANCE for us! They are handing out tickets left and right and are not giving you any warnings whats so ever. You are not allowed to ride on roads in the state forest unless it is posted that you can ride on it. If it's not posted, its not legal.
Well anywhooooo, with summer officially here, remember the bug spray and your water and have a WONDERFUL time here in Ogemaw County.
Tread Lightly and See you on the Trails!!!!
