Pictures!

I know you all are waiting for pictures of the color tour. We are on dialup and every time I try to download pictures I am getting an error. So my son-in-law's going to download pictures tonight onto my photobucket account so I should be able to have a slide show going soon. I am sorry for the delay!!! Looks like another good weekend on tap and our colors are falling fast. We had high winds and rain early this morning and alot of leaves came down, so this might be your last weekend for some good color. Hope to see you on the trails!!

Nice Weekend Coming!

Well I checked with the "weather wizards" and it looks like a beautiful weekend. Our colors are in "Full" bloom. It will be a wonderful fall weekend to come up and ride! Looking over the valley's and hills of West Branch give you a spectacular site right now. The reds and oranges are so vibrant. I am sure the heavy frost and 30 degree weather is going to cause them to start dying and falling soon. So come on up and enjoy the last full color weekends that we have. Soon the snow will be falling and us "snowmobilers" will be out riding the trails! Take care and we will see you on the trails!!!!

What a Beautiful Day!

It was a wonderful crisp day to sit out on the ORV route today and watch all the bikes go by. But I have to tell you, those little ones out there riding with the big guys were the cutest things you will ever see. They brave the trails, elements and traffic just like the veterans. I can't wait for my grandson to get bigger because his Papa says he is getting a bike. I took alot of pictures. I hope you find yourself in one of them! We had a really good turnout, I think! We met alot of wonderful people on the trails and can't wait til next year. We would like to say a special "THANKS" to all the Bent Wheel people who manned the roads and intersections. It made our lives easier this weekend so that we could enjoy meeting alot of the riders. Also Thanks to the ones who were cleaning and raking the roadways. We really appreciate that! I will be posting pictures as soon as I can get on a faster upload than dialup. See you on the trails!!

6:00am and 32.2 degrees

Yeah it is REALLY chilly this morning. If I had pumpkins out, I am sure they would have more than frost of them this morning. We are up early getting around and ready for the ORV parade today in Rose City. I hope to have a good amount of pictures for you today. We will be out and about making sure everyone is having a wonderful time. The trails have some mud in them from all the rain we have been having and the heavy frost the last two mornings. Dress warm and have fun! See you on the trails or at the campgrounds!! Tread Lightly!

Where are my mitten??

We have a VERY chilly morning! The stats outside this morning states 32 degrees. My dog went out side this morning and when I called her in, I thought she was going to break a leg because the deck was icy from all the rain and sleet we received all day yesterday. YEP! Fall is really here with all her fury! I just want to remind you because I know alot of you come up and camp that you need to bring warm clothes this weekend. I don't want you missing work because you caught a cold and did not listen!!!
Jim and I went through Rose City yesterday and they are all ready for the CCC Color Tour. They have signs all through town and they are also annoucing the parade so I hope we have a good turnout. I hope McDonalds has alot of hot chocolate because I am sure everyone will be running in for coffee and hot chocolate.
Jim and I also trimmed some trails. Hopefully you will be able to see the stop signs. Please use alot of caution when coming up to your stop signs. Some roads that you will be crossing are driven on like people are on I-75. They are not looking for you, so you need to look for them.
Last of all, remember to have a WONDERFUL weekend. Enjoy the colors because they are out there in full detail.

Baby It's Cold Out There!!

Can you say Brrrrrrrrrrr??? and don't forget to add in a little shiverrrrrrr! The stat outside reads a warm 39. If you are bringing a tent this weekend, make sure you pack your thermal undies. Looks like fall is coming in with a bang or two. We are suppose to get more rain today which we really need although I know you don't want to hear that but at least it is suppose to be sunny this weekend. We will be out patroling tomorrow night! Well I looked at the weather channel.... "Yeah I know, it's Michigan, just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change!" But any wooo, it states that we are looking at chilly weather for this weekends festivites in Rose City. There might even be some mud puddles if we get our AM showers on Friday. taking MICHIGAN ORV LAWS

An ordinance for the regulation of operation of ORV's on streets and highways located with in Ogemaw County except as herein noted.
Sec.1*As used in this ordinance, the following definitions shall apply:*a). "ORV" means a motor driven off-road vehicle with forward movement made possible by the use of two, three, four or six wheels* with surface contact made by rubber tires.*b). Operation must be to the far right of the maintained portion of the road or street. An ORV may not be operated against the flow* of traffic. The maximum speed of operation is 20mph unless a lower speed limit has been posted.*c) . An ORV may not interfere with other traffic on the road or street. ORV's must travel single file except when passing.*d). An ORV may not be operated on the road surface, roadway, shoulder or right-of-way of any State Highway including but not * limited to M-55, M-30, M-33 or other State Highways in Ogemaw County. An ORV may not be operated within the city limits of * the City of West Branch unless the governing bodies of those municipalities specifically permits such use.*e). Sec. 8113: A person shall not operate an ORV:****a). unless wearing a crash helmet and protective eyewear. This does not apply if the vehicle is equipped with a**** roof that meets or exceeds standards and is wearing appropriate adjusted and fastened safety belt.*f). You CAN NOT transport any passenger in or upon an ORV unless the manufacturing standards for the vehicle make provisions for* transporting passengers. IE: Two-Up ORV or Utility Vehicle.*g). Prior to January 1, 2010 a person must display a lighted headlight and taillight when visibility is reduced. Beginning January 1, 2010, * any ORV operating on the road at any time must display a lighted headlight and taillight. A brake light must be brighter than the taillight,* visible when the brake is activated to the rear of the vehicle. Operation is permitted at all hours.*h). A person under age 12 may not operate an ORV on a street or road. A child age 12,13,14 and 15 may operate an ORV on* a road under the direct visual supervision of an adult and has in their immediate possession an ORV safety certificate.* Children younger than 16 may not operate a 3-wheeled ORV on a road. A child age 16 or 17 may operate without direct* visual supervision provided they have a valid drivers license or an ORV safety certificate in their possession. Michigan* will recognize an ORV safety certificate issued by states or a province of Canada.Sec.2*In the event an ORV is in an accident with another vehicle legally permitted to operate on the road or street, the owner of the ORV *shall be considered prima fascia negligent. The owner of an ORV does not qualify for no-fault/PIP benefits in the event of a single*vehicle accident or an accident with another ORV.Sec.3*Sec. 81147: Except as otherwise provided in this part, a person who violates this part is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by*imprisonment. the penalty for violating an ORV ordinance is a municipal civil infraction with a fine of not more than $500 and/or *damages to repair any damage to the environment, street, road or other public property. The fine and damages shall be deposited*into a local ORV fund. The penalty for creating an erosive condition or violating state environmental law is a misdemeanor punishable*by imprisonment for not more than 90 days and/or a fine of not less than $250 or more than $1000 for each violation. The penalty of*exceeding the 20 MPH limit can range from $50 to $150 or more if applicable.

Get To Know Us!

Ogemaw County was the first county to allow ORV (Off Road Vehicle) riding on the shoulder of most county roads. Rose City is the host city that became the first city to allow the riding of ORV's within its city limits. Ogemaw County has all county and seasonal roads open to ORV's. The only roads not accessable to ORV's are State Roads, Ex: M-33, M-55 and I-75. Also two tracks and power lines are OFF LIMITS. Two tracks are also known as "logging trails". Snowmobile trails are off limits unless posted as a mixed traffic trail. Remember that the law states you must always wear a helmet. Only one (1) rider is allowed on a ORV unless the ORV is a legal two-up. All motorcycle and ORV's must have a current ORV sticker. Our posted speed limit is 20mph. Michigan has just adopted into law that grants access to ORV's to ride on allowable county roads. Please always check with the township that you are traveling in before riding and make sure you understand all the rules and regulations so that you will have an ENJOYABLE vacation.
